“Low cost” is not one program. In Oakland it may mean Medi-Cal paying the bill, a county program for someone uninsured, a community health center adjusting the fee, or a commercial plan being made to find the appointment it already owes you.
Start with how the care will be paid for. Then make one call and ask one question: “What would I pay, and do you have an intake route open for someone like me?”

Do not confuse a program with an opening
A clinic page can prove that a service exists. It cannot prove that an intake slot exists today. That is why every route above ends with a call question and a checked date—not a green “available” badge.
If ACCESS gives you a name, ask before hanging up: “Did you confirm that this program is accepting referrals, or is it only listed in the directory?” The county says ACCESS has the most current information about openings.¹
If the quoted amount is still impossible
Ask the clinic to say what determined the amount: household size, income, insurance, program eligibility, or something else. Then ask whether it offers a payment review, a different service level, a group, or enrollment help for Medi-Cal or HealthPAC. Do not assume “sliding scale” means a particular price; neither LifeLong nor La Clínica publishes one universal therapy fee on the pages checked here.
